Patients

Experienced anesthesiologists and CRNAs care for patients at the surgical practices South Carolina Anesthesia Partners works with, with your comfort and safety as their focus throughout your procedure.

Every patient is unique and deserves individualized attention. Before your procedure, your anesthesia clinician works with you and your surgeon to determine an anesthesia plan suited to your needs from among the available options.

Types of anesthesia — general information. General anesthesia is typically used for major surgeries and involves being completely unconscious during the procedure. Monitored Anesthesia Care (MAC) allows you to remain conscious and comfortable while being continuously monitored by an anesthesia clinician. Regional anesthesia involves numbing a specific area of the body, such as an arm or leg, and is commonly used for orthopedic surgeries. Local anesthesia is used for minor procedures and involves numbing a small area. Your anesthesia clinician will discuss which approach fits your procedure and health history.

If you have questions or concerns before your procedure, please don't hesitate to reach out — or raise them with your care team at your facility.
